CECECO Holds Meeting with the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Azerbaijan

Baku, 16 September 2026 — Ms. Aysel Yagubova, Executive Director of the Economic Cooperation Organization Clean Energy Center (CECECO), held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Ilhom Abdurahmon, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan, to present CECECO’s mandate and initial activities and discuss Tajikistan’s potential engagement with the Centre.

During the meeting, Ms. Yagubova invited Tajikistan to participate more actively in CECECO’s programmes, initiatives and regional activities and consider signing the Charter of the CECECO. The discussion also focused on opportunities to strengthen institutional engagement between CECECO and Tajikistan.

H.E. Mr. Ilhom Abdurahmon acknowledged CECECO’s achievements and progress since its establishment and highlighted Tajikistan’s significant hydropower potential,l. He also noted Tajikistan’s interest in strengthening regional energy connectivity.

Ambassador further highlighted the growing climate and water-security challenges faced by Central Asian countries, including glacier melt, floods, landslides and risks associated with mountain lakes. In this context, the importance of regional cooperation on climate resilience, disaster-risk reduction, clean energy and sustainable water management was emphasized.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to maintain communication and explore practical opportunities for Tajikistan’s closer engagement with CECECO, including cooperation in clean energy, climate resilience, capacity building and regional knowledge exchange.
