CECECO Publishes Hydrogen Knowledge Guide: Key Terms and Definitions

Baku, Azerbaijan, September 2026 — Building on the momentum of COP29, hosted in Baku in 2024, the Economic Cooperation Organization Clean Energy Center (CECECO) presented its newly published Hydrogen Knowledge Guide: Key Terms and Definitions.

The publication provides a concise and accessible reference to key terminology, concepts, definitions, and technical terms used across the hydrogen sector. It covers the hydrogen technology value chain through 12 chapters, addressing hydrogen basics, colours and classifications, production, storage, derivatives, equipment and infrastructure, transportation, safety, applications, the hydrogen ecosystem, and related energy and industrial terms.

The guide also features three best practices from different parts of the world, highlighting how renewable hydrogen can be applied across different areas of the clean energy transition. These include the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Scotland, showcasing renewable hydrogen production from tidal and wind power; the Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field (FH2R) in Japan, demonstrating renewable hydrogen production and grid integration; and REFHYNE in Germany, highlighting the use of renewable hydrogen for industrial decarbonisation.
